What is immersive video conferencing?
Last updated:
For teams comparing ways to discuss real spaces remotely
Immersive video conferencing is live conversation that adds spatial viewing context beyond a conventional fixed video frame. The term covers different approaches. In CallPano, a compatible panoramic camera lets participants independently explore the same live surroundings in a browser, with optional headset viewing where the device and browser support it.
30 trial participant-minutes. No credit card required to start.

One live environment. Independent views. Each participant chooses where to look, without changing anyone else’s view.
Immersive describes an experience, not a universal feature set
Products may use the same label for panoramic cameras, avatar rooms, or headset meetings. Those experiences do not necessarily share the same source, controls, or conversation workflow. For a real-space meeting, ask whether the scene is live, whether guests choose their own viewing directions, and whether the people on location can answer questions.
Keep the surroundings in the conversation
Discuss a room or site with more spatial context than a single operator-selected frame provides.
Give viewers separate directions
In CallPano, one guest can look toward a doorway while another looks across the room from the same camera position.
Keep headsets optional
A normal screen can provide independent pan and zoom. Optional WebXR and head movement require compatible headset and browser support.
Compare the actual workflow
Use choosing immersive video call tools to distinguish conversation, broadcasting, and recorded tours.
Presence does not mean free movement
A live panorama is not automatically a stereoscopic scene or a reconstructed environment. Guests rotate and zoom from the camera’s current position; the host must move safely to show another location. Full equirectangular camera output is required for CallPano’s panoramic workflow. Read browser VR meetings for optional headset considerations; there is no native CallPano Quest app.
From room to live 360° in three steps
- 1
Create a Room
Create your host account and set up a room from the dashboard. Schedule your meeting if you want to arrange it in advance.
- 2
Share the Link
Send the invitation to your participants. Guests use a supported browser without a CallPano account or app download. Test permissions and room access before the session.
- 3
Go Live in 360°
Test an Insta360 X4 or X5 through a compatible webcam mode that supplies full panoramic output, not just a flat webcam feed. Camera firmware, computer, and browser compatibility matter. Once the panorama is working, guests can look around independently.

Frequently asked questions
Is immersive conferencing the same as a VR meeting?
Not necessarily. A panoramic browser call can add spatial context on a normal screen. VR is one optional viewing approach, not a requirement or a guarantee implied by the word immersive.
Can guests walk around independently?
Not in a live camera panorama. They choose viewing directions from the camera’s current location. The person on site must reposition the camera to provide another physical viewpoint.
Does the host need special camera output?
For panoramic CallPano calls, yes: a compatible setup must deliver a full equirectangular panorama to the browser. A standard webcam still works for ordinary flat video calls.
Does optional headset viewing require a native app?
CallPano provides no native Quest app. A supported headset browser may offer optional WebXR viewing and head movement, depending on browser capabilities and permissions.
