What is a live virtual tour?

Last updated:

For hosts deciding how to show a real space remotely

A live virtual tour is a remote visit where someone on location shares current video and answers visitors’ questions in real time. It can use ordinary video or a panorama. With CallPano’s compatible panoramic setup, each visitor chooses where to look while the host guides the route and conversation.

30 trial participant-minutes. No credit card required to start.

One live environment. Independent views. Each participant chooses where to look, without changing anyone else’s view.

Current conditions and reusable captures serve different needs

A recorded tour lets people browse captured viewpoints later, but it cannot by itself answer a new question about what is happening now. A live tour needs an available host and a working connection. Choose based on whether guests need a scheduled conversation, an asynchronous reference, or both through separate workflows.

Ask questions as they arise

Visitors can ask the person on location to explain a feature or move to another safe viewpoint during the conversation.

Show the current setting

Discuss the space as the camera sees it now rather than assuming a previous capture still reflects current conditions.

Offer independent panoramic views

With full equirectangular output, guests choose their viewing direction without redirecting everyone else’s screen.

Prepare a purposeful route

Use the property tour checklist to agree on questions, access, and connection checks before starting.

The Difference

A live visit still has a camera’s limits

Guests cannot see behind an obstruction, recover uncaptured detail by zooming, or move independently to another physical camera location. A live panorama is not a measured survey or a reconstructed 3D tour. For property conversations, see live 360° property tours. Hosting panoramic video requires a compatible camera delivering full equirectangular output; guests can use a supported browser without a headset.

Quick Start

From room to live 360° in three steps

  1. 1

    Create a Room

Create your host account and set up a room from the dashboard. Schedule your meeting if you want to arrange it in advance.

  2. 2

    Share the Link

Send the invitation to your participants. Guests use a supported browser without a CallPano account or app download. Test permissions and room access before the session.

  3. 3

    Go Live in 360°

Test an Insta360 X4 or X5 through a compatible webcam mode that supplies full panoramic output, not just a flat webcam feed. Camera firmware, computer, and browser compatibility matter. Once the panorama is working, guests can look around independently.

Frequently asked questions

Is every live virtual tour a 360° tour?

No. A live tour can use a flat video call. A live 360° tour adds panoramic output and independent viewing controls so visitors are not limited to the operator’s frame.

Can visitors navigate without the host?

In CallPano’s live panorama they can rotate and zoom from the camera’s current position. The host must physically move the camera to show another location; this is not an independently navigable recorded model.

Can a live tour replace a measured property inspection?

No. It can support discussion and help identify follow-up questions, but dimensions, hidden conditions, and formal inspection requirements need appropriate separate checks.

Do visitors need cameras or headsets?

They do not need panoramic cameras or headsets to view the host’s panorama in a supported browser. The person publishing the panoramic source needs a tested full equirectangular camera setup.

Build the tour around the questions

Choose a safe route, test the camera with a guest, and use the guides to prepare the session.
