Put your Insta360 setup to work in live calls

Last updated:

For hosts exploring Insta360 X4 and X5 meeting setups

A 360° camera can help remote guests look around the space you are discussing. The important step is checking the output: CallPano needs a full panorama, not just a conventional flat webcam view.

30 trial participant-minutes. No credit card required to start.

CallPano setup with an Insta360 camera, a panoramic video meeting, AR glasses, and a VR headset

One live environment. Independent views. Each participant chooses where to look, without changing anyone else’s view.

A webcam connection is only part of the setup

Camera modes, firmware, operating systems, and browser permissions can affect what reaches a call. Seeing a camera in a device list does not establish that its output is a usable panorama. Run a short test with a remote guest before planning a live walkthrough.

Check the camera mode

An Insta360 X4 or X5 setup needs a compatible webcam mode that supplies full panoramic output. A flat webcam feed is not enough for interactive 360° viewing. Verify the camera, firmware, computer, and browser together before use.

Preview the whole panorama

Check that remote viewers can look around the scene and that the image is oriented correctly. A flattened or split view needs further setup.

Test audio separately

Choose your microphone and check speech intelligibility at the distance you expect to use during the tour.

Keep a webcam fallback

If the panoramic setup is not ready, a compatible standard webcam can still support a conventional video conversation.

The Difference

Output format matters more than the camera label

X4 and X5 are camera models to evaluate with a compatible webcam-mode setup. Other 360° cameras may work if their output is available to the host browser as a compatible full panoramic video source. This is not a promise that every firmware version, cable, driver, or camera mode will work. CallPano does not claim universal camera compatibility or arbitrary stream ingestion.

Quick Start

From room to live 360° in three steps

  1. 1

    Create a Room

Create your host account and set up a room from the dashboard. Schedule your meeting if you want to arrange it in advance.

  2. 2

    Share the Link

Send the invitation to your participants. Guests use a supported browser without a CallPano account or app download. Test permissions and room access before the session.

  3. 3

    Go Live in 360°

Test an Insta360 X4 or X5 through a compatible webcam mode that supplies full panoramic output, not just a flat webcam feed. Camera firmware, computer, and browser compatibility matter. Once the panorama is working, guests can look around independently.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an Insta360 X4 or X5 for a CallPano call?

An Insta360 X4 or X5 setup needs a compatible webcam mode that supplies full panoramic output. A flat webcam feed is not enough for interactive 360° viewing. Verify the camera, firmware, computer, and browser together before use.

Does a flat webcam mode produce a 360° meeting?

No. A flat, cropped, or reframed webcam feed does not contain the full panorama needed for independent 360° viewing.

Does every camera mode or firmware version work?

No universal compatibility is promised. Check the current camera documentation and test the actual output with your computer and supported browser.

Can I use other 360° cameras or a camera stream?

Other cameras may work if they expose a compatible full panoramic video source to the host browser. Test the camera's webcam mode and output first. Arbitrary RTSP, RTMP, or pasted stream URL ingestion is not promised.

Do remote viewers also need an Insta360 camera?

No. The host supplies the panoramic view. Guests can explore it in a supported browser; their own camera is optional for their video contribution.

What does a camera setup test cost?

The Free trial includes 30 participant-minutes for new accounts, not a monthly reset. Starter is $29/month, Pro is $99/month, and Enterprise is $299/month. See Pricing for current participant-minute allowances and room limits.

Test your camera before the real meeting

Create a room, invite a colleague, and check both the panoramic view and conversation.
